My first slow cooker let me down,
Originally from Lidl,
It was heavy and the screws fell out-
The big ones in the middle.

I hopped straight onto Amazon,
Morphy Richards, red stood out,
I liked the lightweight model,
Heavier ones I could do without.

A few days later thanks to Prime,
A lovely box arrived,
But I felt the pang of buyers remorse,
When I slowly peered inside.

Aside from the lightweight insert,
The design was exactly the same,
The cheap outer casing and central screws,
That were originally to blame.

I compared the two brands to each other,
They were really alike, much the same,
So the next time I buy a slow cooker,
I will go by the price, not the name.

My wife loves her slow cooker and every so often donates it to one of our children thus requiring a new one now and again. This time I bought it for her and in reality made a bit of a mistake because this is bigger than we need. Its massive and you can make a stew for about 12 people in it. See the photos which show a recipe for 8 people - with plenty of room for more.

However, like other similar standard slow cookers this works really well. My wife likes the non-stick steel pans rather than the crockery type because not only are they lighter they are much easier to clean as long as you have not scrathed them using the wrong stirrer.

Anyway, three heat settings which allow cooking over a coupel of hours to all day. We tend to use lowest setting once bubbling and let it run all day meaning we return to a hot prepared meal in the evening.

Quality is good. We have never had a problem with Morphy Richards slow cookers to be honest in 20 years. I don't think this will change with this one.

Overall a great - if massive - slow cooker.

This is one of the best appliances I have. Been using it weekly for a year now and I wouldn't be without it. Other reviews have complained about the bottom of the crock pot peeling away under heat but I have not experienced this. I sear my meat every time on a solid hotplate hob and have had no damage whatsoever. Being able to sear and stew in one pot makes life so much easier. Extremely easy to clean afterwards with excellent non-stick coating and the crock pot is so light, I can balance it on one finger. Would recommend to anyone who wants to make life easier for themselves, especially busy families!!

Excellent slow cooker, very simple to use and clean (~4 months of regular use). Pot is dishwashable and seems to clean very easily. We are careful to not use anything metal to stir, so not sure on pot durablilty vs metal. Pot can be used directly on the hob (e.g. to brown meat), have done this a fair amount and no sign of damage or marking. Glass lid is good.
If you're considering getting a slow cooker, this is a great one. Slow cooking is great for setting up in the morning to avoid cooking in the evening. Plenty of recipes online, but we especially love pulled pork (stupidly easy to just throw in pork shoulder plus a can of cider and some cumin + paprika and leave for 8+ hours on low), and lamb tagine.

Does what it says on the box, swift heat up, easy, clear controls. Cooks a lot at once, chose the 6l for a 5 family household and it works well for us all. Full chicken, stews, chilli, mince and onions all great in it. Porridge, cakes, pudding to follow as winter comes in. Love that you can use inner on the stove top to brown meat etc before placing in cooker base

Works faster than my old ceramic slow cooker, but does do a good medium simmer. You need to have the pot at least half full for it to work best.

It's great being able to brown the meat and sweat onions down on the hob before adding the liquid. A real one pot cook pot.

We had a ceramic pot slow cooker which was a nightmare, even on its low setting it would basically be boiling away, so could never leave it on for the day!! Bit pointless really! Got this as a replacement and its brilliant!! Have done several different dishes and can happily leave it on all day with no issues and is very easy to clean! Cooking ingredients straight on the hob using the pot works great! !

Good size, easy to use and to clean. The only criticism is the inner pan you can use for searing meat etc is very flimsy. Would be much better with a more substantial base, saying that it was very reasonable price so you get what you pay for I suppose!
